Kanda Poha

Poha is a popular breakfast made . Kanda Poha, specifically, is a variation of Poha that includes onions (kanda means onions ) as one of the main ingredients. It's a flavorful and nutritious dish that is easy to prepare.

Here's a simple recipe for Kanda Poha:

Ingredients:

2 cups flattened rice (poha)
1 medium-sized onion, finely chopped
1 or 2 green chilies, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
8-10 curry leaves
A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
Salt to taste
1 tablespoon oil
2 tablespoons roasted peanuts (optional)
Fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped, for garnish
Lemon wedges, for serving
Instructions:

Briefly rinse the flattened rice (poha) in a colander under warm water. Drain well then reserve.

Poha should not be soaked since it may turn mushy.


Over medium heat warm the oil in a large pan or kadai. Add the cumin and mustard seeds. Let them cough.


The chopped onions should be added and cooked until transparent.

Add the curry leaves asafoetida and green chilies at this point. Stir well then heat for one minute.
Add the turmeric powder after lowering the heat to low.

To avoid burning quickly mix it.
Salt and cleaned poha should be added to the pan. Gently mix everything together until the turmeric and spices are evenly spaced throughout the poha.

3 to 4 minutes of cooking.

Add the roasted peanuts now and mix completely if using.
After removing add fresh coriander leaves to the dish..
With a small amount of lemon juice over top serve hot. With a hot cup of tea or coffee kanda poha tastes nicely.
